National Statistics Day-2024 was observed at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur. The day was observed on Tuesday, February 27 organized by the Statistics Students Association of HSTU.
The HSTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M Kamruzzaman was present as the chief guest at the seminar organized on the occasion of the day. The Dean of Science Faculty of the University Dr. Mamunur Rashid; Registrar Professor Dr. Saifur Rahman; Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Department Professor Dr. Mahabub Hossain and others were present as special guests.
Head of Department of Statistics Dr. Md. Erfan Ali Khondkar presided over the event while Prof. Rahmatullah Imon from the department of Mathematical Science of Bill State University, United States of America was present as the main discussant.
While speaking as the chief guest, the HSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M Kamruzzaman said, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman emphasized the plan to rebuild the war-torn country. Information is power in today’s world. Today’s statisticians will lead the way in implementing our Sustainable Development Goals, the Delta Plan. Scientific research is not possible without any information and data analysis. So, to lead Smart Bangladesh from the front, we have to establish ourselves as skilled statisticians.
Later in the seminar, after the question-and-answer session, prizes were distributed among the winners of the quiz competition.
Earlier, the National Statistics Day celebrations started at 10 am with a colorful rally circumambulating various important roads of the university.
