The new central executive committee of the Bangladesh Computer Samity BCS went uncontested as only one panel took part in the election. The telecom and information technology organization, Internet Service Providers’ Association of Bangladesh- ISPAB is in line for the vote on March 8. Due to the candidate crisis, BASIS, the most vibrant organization of this sector, has joined this mood of voting. The election of BASIS Executive Committee will be held on May 8. It is reported that the election of e-CAB may be held on June 15-25. However, the Election Commission has not yet been formed.
Basis EC polling will be held at RAWA Convention Center of Mohakhali DOHS in the capital. Only the members who pay their dues by March 10 will be eligible to vote in this election.
According to the schedule, the final voter list will be published on March 23. After that, the sale of nomination forms will start from March 27. The BASIS Election Commission will release the final candidate list on April 20. TIM Nurul Kabir has become the board chairman in this commission while Syed Mamnoon Quader and Nazim Farhan Chowdhury are members.
In conversation with the concerned, it is known that the BASIS election may be slightly different from the experience of BCS and ISPAB. This time three panels can come in this vote.
On December 27, 2021, there were 29 candidates against 11 posts in the executive council election of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for the term 2022-23. Then ‘One Team’ led by Russell T Ahmed got majority. Members of ‘One Team’ won 6 out of 10 positions in general, associate and affiliate categories. Members of ‘Synergy Squad’ led by Habibullah Niamul Karim won 4. Then Russell T. Ahmed was elected BASIS President while Samira Zuberi Himika became the Senior Vice President.
