As part of the regular initiative to employ persons with disabilities, a day-long job fair will be held at the office building of the Bureau of NGO Affairs in Agargaon, Dhaka on the morning of February 10. The State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak will inaugurate the job fair. The fair has been organized jointly by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and Center for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) under Information and Communication Technology Department.
Around 500 candidates with disabilities have already applied for jobs in the fair through online application. Out of them computer trained and skilled job aspirants will participate in on spot interview.
The organizing authority hopes to provide employment to around 50 people through the fair. Besides, more than 200 job aspirants will be included in the short list for interview for subsequent recruitment and employment arrangements will be made in phases.
About this, Job Fair 2024 Coordinator and BCC Manager (Systems) Md. Gholam Rabbani said that free ICT training for disabled people has been started since 2011 through BCC. Job fairs are being organized since 2015 with the participation of jobseekers and employer organizations for the employment of disabled persons who have received ICT training. So far, more than 900 ICT skilled persons with disabilities have been provided employment through job fairs.
Notably, the ICT-based organizations that are members of various trade bodies or associations are participating in the job fair. Information technology companies in the country usually provide jobs to people with disabilities. Among these companies, there are ICT-based members organizations of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO). Various ICT related institutions of the country are also participating in the fair.
