The students of Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University-MBSTU in Tangail have temporarily suspended their agitation assuring the Vice-Chancellor to solve the problem within the next 14 days. Earlier on Saturday (January 27) at night, they locked Bangabandhu Hall, Sheikh Russell Hall, Mannan Hall and the Administrative Building of the university with 14 demands.
The teachers including the vice chancellor of the university were blocked. In the night, VC Professor Dr. Farhad Hossain sat in discussion with the leaders of the University Chhatra League and ordinary students. There, when it was assured that the problem will be resolved within the next two weeks, the students temporarily suspended the movement by opening the locks in the morning.
Sheikh Russell Hall was first locked on Saturday afternoon, Bangabandhu Hall in the evening and Mannan Hall at 8:30 pm. Later, the students locked the Administrative Building as they did not accept their demands.
Meanwhile, the students made 14-point demands including quality food, safe water supply and internet service in the residential halls.
Meanwhile, students of three halls locked the Administrative Building and set fire to tires in front of the VC’s office to protest.
Notably, there are 400 students in Bangabandhu Hall, 550 students in Sheikh Russell Hall and 500 students in Mannan Hall.
