After overcoming his illness due to cold after taking the oath, the Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman went to Tungipara of Gopalganj with heads of some institutions under the Ministry of Science and Technology on Wednesday, January 17 and paid respects at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
After offering the wreath, he stood silently by the side of the altar for a while and showed deep respect to the great leader. After reciting Fateha, he prayed for the salvation of the souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyr of August 15, 1975 and 3 million martyrs of the Great Liberation War.
After that, the Minister wrote a poem about the Father of the Nation in the inspection book kept at the Mausoleum Complex.
Nuclear Power Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL) MD and Project Director of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Scientist Dr. Shaukat Akbar; Chairman of Science and Industrial Research Council (BCSIR) Prof. Dr. Aftab Ali Sheikh and the Chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority Engineer Md. Mozammel Haque and others were present with him.
After taking charge of the same ministry for four consecutive terms, the Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman said, “Our biggest target is to complete Rooppur Power Plant”. Completing the plant is our big challenge, its work is nearing completion. The plant will be manned by army and civilians.
He also said that this power plant was expected by Bangabandhu. If Bangabandhu had lived, Bangladesh would have become a developed country earlier. Bangladesh will be the 33rd country in the world if the Rooppur power plant becomes operational.
It may be recalled that, on January 13, the members of the new cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid respects at the tomb of the father of the nation in Tungipara, but architect Yeafesh Osman was not present that day. Finally, four days after the new government paid homage, this technocrat minister went to Tungipara and paid homage at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
When asked about the reason for such a delay in paying tribute, the science minister said, ‘I was in a bit of a daze due to a cold-related illness since the day after the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet. Therefore, even though I wanted to go with the Prime Minister to give flowers in Tungipara, it did not happen’.
Architect Yafes Osman also said, ‘Future Bangladesh will move forward on the path shown by the father of the nation. Under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter, the people of the country will thwart all the plans of the allies of the forces defeated in the liberation war.
He expressed his firm belief that the Prime Minister’s leadership will work to build a more modern, prosperous, corruption-free, smart Bangladesh in the future by maintaining the continuity of the country’s development.
Earlier in the morning, when the Minister reached the Father of the Nation’s tomb, the Superintendent of Police of Gopalganj district, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Tungipara Upazila, Police Officer-in-Charge and local political leaders welcomed and congratulated him.
