The third phase of ‘Artificial Intelligence for Bangla’ (AI for Bangla 3.0) competition has started. Application can be lodged online by 21 February. The application form is available in this link . And regular updates of the competition can be found on EBLICT’s Facebook page .
Although the main theme of this year’s competition is ‘Generative AI’, any proposal related to machine learning and natural language processing and language-technology can be submitted. There will be three phases in total in the competition, said technology language scientist Mamun Or Rashid.
In order to enrich Bangla language in artificial intelligence technology and information technology, this consultant of Bangladesh Computer Council under ICT Division said that in the first phase, abstract written in English within 500 words and 2 minutes video presentation narrated in Bengali should be submitted. In the second phase, a virtual workshop will be held with the selected candidates. AI and NLP experts of the country will conduct the workshop. In the third phase, the selected teams will have to submit relevant resources (sourcecode, dataset/model), prototype and research paper/extended abstract of less than 2000 words on Google Drive and give a presentation at ICT Tower, Agargaon. An expert panel of judges will evaluate the participants. A total of 5 prizes will be awarded in the competition including the first prize worth of Tk 2 lakh.
It may be mentioned that the success of the first two rounds of the ‘AI for Bangla’ competition has greatly encouraged university students, young researchers and developers in research and software development activities related to Bangla language technology. In continuation of this, ‘AI for Bangla 3.0’ has been organized under the initiative of Bengali language enrichment project in information technology through research and development.
