A seminar on Cyber Security Act, 2023 Notification and Cyber Security Assurance was held at Cox’s Bazar Submarine Cable Landing Station. National Cyber Security Agency organized this day-long seminar on Sunday in collaboration with Submarine Cable Landing Station Authority and Directorate of ICT, Cox’s Bazar.
Director General of National Cyber Security Agency Abu Saeed Md. Kamruzzaman was present as the chief guest and keynote speaker in the seminar.
Tapti Chakma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT), Cox’s Bazar was present as the special guest while speaker and Surachit Barua, Deputy General Manager (Operation & Maintenance), Cox’s Bazar Submarine Cable Landing Station was present as President.
CCA Office Investigation Officer (Law) Shamim Ahmed Bhuiyan was also present as a discussant.
Officials of Submarine Cable Landing Station and various government departments of Cox’s Bazar district, ICT officials of Cox’s Bazar district, NCSA officials and journalists were present in the seminar.
NCSA Assistant Director SM Manna delivered the welcome address at the beginning of the seminar.
The chief guest and keynote presenter NCSA Director General Abu Saeed Md. Kamruzzaman explained the need of the newly approved Cyber Security Act, 2023 to secure the cyber space of the country and explained various important sections of the Cyber Security Act. He discussed about the National Cyber Security Agency’s action plan to ensure cyber security as well as various activities of the agency especially CII and future plans of the agency. Government informed that cyber security is ensured and working tirelessly to protect personal data. He advises everyone to be aware of various cyber risks and mobile scams.
He emphasized everyone to be aware of cyber risks and follow cyber hygiene to stay safe in cyber space. They highlighted Cyber Security Assurance at Submarine Cable Landing Cable Stations. He discussed the four pillars of building Smart Bangladesh and highlighted what needs to be done to implement other pillars including Smart Citizen. In his discussion, he mentioned various cases of cyber bullying of teenagers especially women and asked to report the victim of cyber bullying to the hotline number 13219.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT), Cox’s Bazar urged people to be vigilant about safe email use and cyber bullying. He advised them to be aware of cyber bullying both institutionally and family wise.
CCA Office Investigation Officer (Law) Shamim Ahmed Bhuiyan discussed the areas of using digital signature, importance and cyber security in the seminar. He discussed the importance of using digital signatures to prevent forgery and ensure authenticity of digital documents of all government offices. He also discussed the functions of the CCA office in detail.
The seminar participants presented various questions on cyber security, safe internet usage, cybercrime prevention and cyber security laws. Keynote presenters, panelists and NCSA officials answered these questions.
