The Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Genome Center has been officially awarded the ISO certificate by the International Standards Organization. This certificate was handed over in a ceremony organized in the virtual classroom of
Engineer Abdun Noor, Managing Director of Hermitage of Management and Standards (HMS) Ltd., a local consultancy firm handed over the certificate to the Vice-Chancellor of JUST and Director of Genome Center Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building today, on Saturday afternoon. The receiving of the ISO certificate was celebrated by cutting a cake. The CSIRL and NEM Lab of JUST have already acquired the ISO certification for maintaining international quality standards.
While speaking as the chief guest at the certificate handing ceremony, Professor Dr. Hasina Khan, a Swadhinota Padak winning scientist and member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) said, only after dreaming, people can realize their dreams. The vice chancellor of this university was able to make such a rich laboratory because he had a dream. He took the university forward in a short span of time. Jashore University of Science and Technology is now one of the few universities in Bangladesh that have taken a unique position in research in the country. He emphasized the admission of students for PhD degree in the country to increase research.
While speaking as the President of the ISO Certificate handover ceremony, an Ekushey medalist scientist and JUST Vice-chancellor professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said, Jashore Science and Technology University has reached this position after overcoming many obstacles. Not only the Genome Center, JUST also has such world-class labs. He expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone involved in obtaining such a certificate.
The treasurer of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman, Associate Director of Genome Center Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid, Managing Director, Hermitage of Management and Standards (HMS) Ltd. Engineer Abdun Noor also spoke at the ceremony. The Dean, Chairman and Heads of Departments of various faculties of JUST were present on the occasion. The program was conducted by Assistant Technical Officer of Genome Center Md. Ali Ahsan Setu.
Inauguration of two labs: Earlier in the morning, Professor Dr. Hasina Khan inaugurated the Cell Culture Lab, an extension of the Genome Center on the ninth floor of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building. And later, Genome Center was officially inaugurated on the ground floor of the same building by JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain.
