University graduates are often faced with skills gaps in the job market. Seamlessly, employers are struggling to find skilled workers according to the changing global demand. A special workshop was held at the Technical University of the port city on Monday to help the new generation and the country to overcome such contradictions.
A workshop on Minimizing the Skill Gap among Industry, Academia and Job Seekers was organized by the Career Club of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and in collaboration with A2i and Action Aid Bangladesh. This workshop was held in the multipurpose auditorium of Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator where Vice Chancellor of CUET, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was present as the chief guest.
Muhammad Rashidul Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning; Student Welfare Director Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, Bright Bangladesh Forum Chief Executive Uppal Barua was the special guest of this day long workshop.
The program was presided over by CUET Career Club’s chief advisor Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik and Professor Jamal Uddin Ahmed delivered his welcome speech at the workshop. The program was conducted by career club members and civil engineering department ’19 batch students Maisha Nawar, Yakin Ramiz and Zohair Mahtab.
At the beginning of the program, a documentary on “Bangladesh Job Market” was presented by A2i Strategy and Innovation Specialist H.M. Asad-uz-Zaman. All members of CUET Career Club and a large number of interested students from various departments participated in it.
AKS Limited, Water Life Technology, Omera Fuels Limited, Confidence Cement, Unilever, Shang-Shing Cement Industries Limited, Pran Group, KSRM, Unitex Group, Navana Group, Walton Digi-Tech, GPH Ispat Limited, BSRM, Jensen & Nicholson participated in the workshop as the event partners. Industrial institutes like Bangladesh Limited discussed with the students about their expected competencies and skills.
