The Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Alliance- APICTA Award 2023 is taking place once again in Hong Kong after10 yeas. Representatives of 16 countries and regions are taking part in APICTA 2023 at the Cyberport of Hong Kong. Three organizations from Bangladesh are participating in the competition. The Bangladeshi flag bearers are Content Matters Limited, SKELELABS LLC and IXORA Solutions Limited.
Syed Almas Kabir, President of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is representing Bangladesh in the competition jointly organized by the Office of the Chief Information Officer of the Hong Kong Government and the Hong Kong Computer Association. According to sources, he is serving as a head judge on a special invitation from APICTA as well in this competition. As competitors, Content Matters Limited Chairman ASM Rafiq Ullah Rommel and SM Moshiur Rahman; SKELELABS’ Anik Rahman and IXORA Solutions Limited CEO Golam Jilani and Md Ziaur Rahman are taking part there.
They will compete with contestants from 15 other countries and economic regions of APICTA in different categories on Wednesday. The competition will continue till Thursday.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) President Rocky Chang welcomed all competitors, judges and other representatives to APICTA 2023 at the opening ceremony held on Tuesday.
Speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony, the APICTA President Fulvio Insera said that APICTA is not just a competition but something bigger than that. APICTA now has 16 economic regions which are growing day by day. Nepal and South Korea are also going to join. APICTA is a great opportunity for networking and participants should take the full advantage of this opportunity.
It isworthnoting that, Bangladesh participated in the first APICTA Award in 2016. Kranti Associates, a domestic firm, received the Merit Award that year in a service category. The following year in 2017, Bangladesh itself hosted the APICTA Awards. In 2019, Bangladesh won the highest award in APICTA with the championship in three categories and merit recognition in five categories. In 2021, four awards including two championship and two merits came to Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh did not participate in the APICTA Awards held in Pakistan last year. This time again Bangladesh is participating in this event.
