The mail server of the state owned organization Biman Bangladesh has been attacked by hackers. Shafiul Azim, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh confirmed the matter and told the media that immediately after the mail server was hacked, necessary measures were taken to protect the data from unauthorized access. This work has also progressed substantially. As a result, no information was lost.
He also said that the IT team of Biman Bangladesh is working with National CIRT, an organization that takes care of cyber issues. Meanwhile, a team of CIRT has visited the Biman Bangladesh office. He also said that the work of solving the problem is going on according to their suggestions.
Sources say that the ransomware that has infected the Biman Bangladesh’s mail server is a completely new type. So it is still not clear from where or who attacked. Since the nature of the ransomware is still unknown, other organizations have been rumored to be at risk of being attacked.
Regulatory Commission BTRC is going to install monitoring system for cyber security in mobile network. As a result of this initiative, it will protect the sector’s IT resources including detection and prevention of cyber attacks on mobile networks, systems, applications and databases. In particular, it will be possible to protect the network by doing traffic analysis including DDoT attack or amplification, Bodnet attack, DNS data leak, DNS spoofing, malware and ransomware detection.
