A delegation of China’s leading sewing machine manufacturer JAC met BGMEA President Farooq Hasan at BGMEA Complex at Uttara, Dhaka on Thursday (March 9).
In the meeting, they also discussed the problems of the garment industry, including the latest technology and machinery, and possible cooperation to increase the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s garment industry through innovation and technology up- gradation.
BGMEA President Farooq Hasan outlined the apparel industry’s vision of strengthening the industry’s position as a world-class manufacturing hub through the latest technology and innovation. He appraised the JAC delegation about the ongoing and planned activities of the industry to transform it into a sustainable and competitive source for sourcing high-valued items.
He said that JAC, one of the largest garment machinery manufacturers, can be an important partner in Bangladesh’s garment industry to increase productivity and efficiency in manufacturing high-quality garments through their advanced technology and machinery. Farooq Hasan urged Jack to cooperate with the industry through technology transfer and exchange of expertise in state-of-the-art machinery.
He emphasized taking collaborative initiatives with Center of Innovation, Efficiency and OSH and BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) to increase capacity in advanced manufacturing.
Both BGMEA and JAC agreed on the matter and expressed their interest to work together for the development of Bangladesh’s garment industry.
The delegation included JAC Group Vice President Qiu Yangyu, Asia Marketing Director Li Fengzhi, Bangladesh Marketing Manager Alan Chan, Bangladesh Sales Manager Feng Lidong, Solutions Division Vice GM Chen Yu and Lockstitch Product Director Ying Zhenhua.
