The honorable Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh (BDU) Professor Dr. Muhammad Mahfuzul Islam said that the purpose of establishing a digital university is to create our own technology. This university is working to acquire the ability to create its own technology, not from outside the country.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed his optimism while speaking as the chief guest at the EduTube Quiz Contest 2022 championship round ceremony at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium in the capital on Thursday (March 2, 2023) in the afternoon.
He said, “We don’t want to import any kind of equipment or software from abroad, we want all kinds of equipment to be made in Bangladesh and we will lead the world from this country. Bangabandhu’s daughter Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown us the way to make changes.”
The vice chancellor addressed the students participating in the competition saying, “You, who have come here through this competition should always think that you can lead the world. If you give up, Bangladesh will not be able to lead the world. And if you can see your right path and move ahead, then Bangladesh can lead the world.”
While speaking as the President of the ceremony, the EduTube Quiz Contest 2022 Organizer and Managing Director of Ethics Advance Technology Limited (EATL) Mr. MA Mubin Khan conveyed his dream about EduTube and that students can use mobile devices for good purposes, using them for knowledge acquisition. Keeping the topic in mind, EduTube announced the organization of Quiz Contest. He assured to spread this competition in all schools and colleges of the country in the next five years.
MA Mubin Khan said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh will play an important role in building Digital Bangladesh and Smart Bangladesh. We believe that this university will usher in a new horizon in the technology sector in Bangladesh.
He also said to the students participating in the competition, “You who are now studying in class 9th and 10th are lucky. Because this university will be a milestone for you. This university will bring you many opportunities.
This quiz competition was held with the top-16 and top-8 teams of EduTube Quiz Contest 2022 with the participation of secondary level school students.
The top 2 teams from each of the eight divisions who passed the divisional round of the competition participated in the Top-16 round. The eight best teams from the Top-16 participated in the Top-8 round. At the end of the competition, 4 teams from the top-8 for the final stage of the competition respectively ‘Ananya Annada’ of Annada Government High School, Brahmanbaria, ‘Trojan’ of Thakurgaon Government Girls High School, ‘Jhinuk 22’ of Jhenaidah Government High School and ‘The Tellanger’ of Galachipa Government Model Secondary School, Patuakhali. ‘teams were selected.
The remaining teams that made it to the top-16 to top-8 stages are ‘Adamya 3’ from Manikganj Government High School, ‘KD Quizzers Squad’ from Naogaon Krishnadhan (KD) Government High School, Feluda from Victoria High School, Srimangal, and MZS 22 Quiz Tea from Mymensingh Zilla School. The 8 teams eliminated from the top-16 phase were given 50,000 taka, 4 teams eliminated from the top-8 phase were given 50,000 taka prizes and certificates. The grand finale will be held in Dhaka with those who have passed the final stage of the competition, in which four teams will receive a total of eleven lakh taka as prizes including five lakh taka for the champion team.
Earlier, on Tuesday 10th May 2022, the Hon’ble Minister of Education Dr. Deepu Moni, MP. Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Mr. Shyam Sundar Sikdar and Vice Chancellor of the National University Prof. Dr. Md. Moshiur Rahman. The country director of the World Bank Mercy M. Tembon was present as an honored guest.
The main objective of this competition is to bring about a positive change in the society by creating an edu-social movement. We have organized this quiz so that our teenagers can get away from the negative aspects of mobile and internet and engage themselves in positive thinking and constructive activities. The initiative involves World Bank as Knowledge Partner, Huawei as Technology Partner and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) as Strategy Partner.
