The National Museum of Science and Technology has been regularly organizing mobile science exhibitions across the country, including the capital, with the aim of expanding science education programs. In January and February this year, traveling science exhibitions were organized at around 50 places in various schools, colleges, madrasas, and science clubs in and outside Dhaka.
Apart from different areas of the capital, the museum conducted mobile exhibitions over the districts of Khulna, Narsingdi, Gazipur, Narayanganj. 5 museum buses of science museum, 3 state-of-the-art 4D movie buses, 2 observatory buses, VR (virtual reality) with modern technology are used in these mobile exhibitions.
Besides, sky observation is arranged through powerful telescopes. 10,000 visitors including teachers and students of various educational institutions enjoyed and benefitted from these exhibitions.
In this context, Director General of National Science and Technology Museum Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “Science Museum is conducting this program with the aim of popularizing science at the doorstep of students rather than keeping science education confined in books. Science cannot be learned by memorization, science must be learned through life-based activities. To make the entire nation science-minded, science education must reach remote areas.”
