The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said that smart citizens are the basis of building a smart Bangladesh. Smartness is building you through digital skills, not in clothes or cosmetics. The new generation of the country is extremely talented; their innovative ability is rare in the world. Smart Bangladesh will be developed in 2041 by their hands if they get proper sponsorship. The minister called upon all concerned including teachers and parents to work together in implementing the initiatives taken by the government to make the new generation smart citizens.
While speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 8th DCSC Science Fair 2023 organized by the Dhaka College Science Club at the Dhaka College Auditorium on Tuesday, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications made this call.
Mentioning that the science students have changed the concept of the fifth industrial revolution by just practicing science, this pioneer of digital technology development said that the level of development of human civilization was the first industrial revolution based on the steam engine, the second based on electricity and the third industrial revolution based on the Internet. The fourth industrial revolution means dependence on machines. The earth is for man, man will control the machine to help man. The fifth industrial revolution is developing in the mix of man and machine.
Emphasizing the need to develop the new generation as human resources with digital skills to face the challenges of the fifth industrial revolution, this pioneer of digital transformation of education said, the new generation is our greatest strength in building a smart Bangladesh. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wanted smart people to build a smart Bangladesh and said to the students, Bangladesh will be smart if you are smart.
Mustafa Jabbar said, conventional education is constantly changing. This pioneer of digital technology development said that Internet is the best library in the world. Addressing parents to hand over digital devices to their children, the minister said there is no alternative to ensure proper use of smart phones.
Addressing the students, the minister said that by using the smart phone properly, you can gain your knowledge and become the best of the bests. The Minister referred to Bangladesh as an commendable example of the Digital Bangladesh program and said that Bangladesh is the first country in the world to declare as a digital country and Bangladesh is also the first country in the world as Smart Bangladesh. In 2008 Bangladesh was announced to become Digital Bangladesh and it has been implemented.
He said that in 2009 Digital Britain, India in 2014 Digital India and Pakistan in 2019 announced Digital Pakistan. The situation in Pakistan is such that the money they have in their reserves can only buy two weeks of food. Our once ruling-exploiting country is going bankrupt. Mustafa Jabbar, a former student of Dhaka College, thanked the concerned organizers for organizing the science fair.
Dhaka College Principal Professor Mohammad Yusuf presided over the event while University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman, Additional Director General of Narcotics Control Directorate Md. Azizul Islam, Dhaka College Vice-Chancellor ATM Mainul Hossain, Dhaka College Teachers Association General Secretary Dr. Abdul Quddus Shikder, Professor Sharifa Sultana and Dhaka College Science Club President Sahab Uddin Ahmed spoke in the event.
At the beginning of the program, the minister recited the anti-narcotics oath organized by the Narcotics Control Directorate. He announced the official opening of the science fair and visited the various stalls of the fair.
