Apart from the use of technology to build a smart government by 2041, the government also wants to make government officials and employees accountable to ensure their accountability. The government will also set up a smart leadership academy for inclusive development.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak opined so while speaking at the participants’ workshop on Bangladesh’s e-Government Policy held in Gulshan on Tuesday.
While speaking as the Chief Guest, the state minister said that the government has started working to develop smart governance from e-governance, one of the four pillars adopted by the government. At the same time, the use of the Internet and technology has reduced government spending and corruption. Bangladesh has remained active with its own solution to the Covid- 19 due to the basic software being ready.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology has described how the government has developed the digital development of government services in the last 14 years. Without their partnership, the goal would not have been possible.
The State Minister said that we are hopeful that the European Union has given the report today highlighting the eighth five-year plan for the transformation of Smart Bangladesh and the formation of a smart government. Together with them, the government will move forward to build a government of transparency and accountability.
Charles Whiteley, GOPA Head of Delegation of Bangladesh of the European Union delivered a welcome speech at the event. World Wide Consultants Dr. Sadiq Hasan, Debashish Nag and John Ekhanov presented a presentation on Bangladesh’s digital readiness.
Mostafa Kamal Uddin, Director General of ICT Directorate, Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Start Up Bangladesh, Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority and others were present on the occasion.
In the second phase of the workshop, after the discussion of the participants and the report of the European Union, the ICT State Minister said that Bangladesh will soon develop its own open AI platform. At the same time, a soft design has also been formulated by the ICT Division to launch Universal Digital ID to bring digital services to a unique platform.
Palak said that the government will develop 3 thousand university students as entrepreneurs within the next three years and highlighted various initiatives of the government to increase the capacity of the citizens.
