All flights across the country have been grounded due to an error in the computer system of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States. According to the US news media CNBC and Sky News sources, the US Aviation sector’s national control system has suffered from an error in the Notice to Air Mission system. Many people suffered at various airports in the country due to being forced to land their flights. They got stuck at the airport without reaching their destination at the specified time.
In this regard, the Federal Aviation Administration said, the FAA is working to restore the problem and the air mission system. An FAA spokesman said work is underway to restore the air mission system. Details will be given only if it is okay. National airspace is affected.
The statement added, ‘We are investigating the latest situation of the problem and trying to restore the system. This has affected operations throughout the National Airspace System. We will give regular updates on this matter.’
Flights from airports such as Philadelphia, Tampa and Honolulu are reported to be delayed. In addition, there were flight delays at Ronald Reagan Airport in Arlington, Virginia, and Washington. Many complained that passengers were stranded due to flight delays as many flights did not take off at the airports. Passengers have also expressed anger at many airports.
One person posted on his personal Twitter that they were stranded due to the outage. Another passenger said on Twitter, ‘A glitch in the computer system meant nationwide flight cancellations. Because of this we are going to be in trouble.’
According to the FAA, an error was detected in the computer system last Tuesday (January 10). That’s when the warning was issued. But even after rebooting the system the problem was not fixed; Rather it caused more suffering. Thousands of passengers were stranded at the airport due to this.
The FAA website provides regular updates on these issues. For this they have launched a hotline.
