In the outgoing year 2022, as many as 2500 physically challenged people were able to become self-employed by acquiring skills through three months of technology training arranged by the ICT Division. Besides providing training, 640 laptops have been given to such disabled people in 64 districts. Over hundred visually impaired people have also been given laptops with braille technology.
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak conveyed this information at the distribution ceremony among 64 physically challenged people of the Upazila on a private initiative from his local residence at Singra on Thursday. State Minister’s teenage sons Apoorba Zunaid and Arjan Zunaid performed the duties of volunteers.
At the same time, the state minister said that in order to build Bangabandhu’s discrimination-free Sonar Bangla, in order to enable them to enjoy all the benefits of the state and to have the right to perform equal responsibilities, the number of people with disabilities will be increased to 2500.
Palak said that when the construction of Sheikh Kamal IT Incubation Center in Singra will be completed, special arrangements will be made there for disabled brothers and sisters. If any of our brothers and sisters with disabilities wants to become entrepreneurs, if they want to start a business, a small shop, or if they want to apply in e-commerce, then we will also give them a capital. With that money they can become entrepreneurs with self-respect and live with dignity.
Noting that only feelings are not enough for the specially-able people, the ICT State Minister urged the people to show sympathy for them. He said, “I have arranged ramps as well as stairs in my house so that disabled people can visit me easily”.
