The government is gearing up the IT, ITES and light engineering automobile sectors to reduce dependence on agriculture, apparel and expatriate income through product diversification. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared this year as technology year. Through this, Bangladesh is preparing to become an export-oriented country from import dependence by producing innovative products in the country through the research and development of innovative technologies like artificial intelligence to fulfill the vision of building a developed Bangladesh in 2041 by leading the fourth industrial revolution. And since most of the countries in the world have announced to give up fuel engines after 2030, Bangladesh wants to use that opportunity.
As a part of this, on Wednesday, the government’s Aspire to Innovate-a2i entered into an agreement with Runner Automobile, a domestic automobile company listed in the capital market.
a2i project director Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir and Riazul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of Runner Automobile signed the agreement in the presence of the State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak at the a2i conference center in the capital’s ICT tower.
It was informed in the ceremony that this agreement is to make Bangladesh as a hub of innovation in the world through innovations close to life, including automobiles of the future.
Hafizur Rahman, chairman of Runner Automobiles, said in the event that to implement the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Village will be a city’, we are making low-cost electric cars in the country. After the two-wheeler, four-wheeler cars were made. It is now awaiting marketing approval.
The ICT State Minister and the Chief Guest of the program Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that he has already taken initiatives to end his wait.
He said that the income and standard of living of the village people is increasing. So the dream of riding a motorcycle now will be fulfilled in the future. For this I have already sent a request to the Minister of Bridges, Minister of State for Power and Shreda and BRTA. Soon we will discuss a policy so that the registration number for electric vehicles can be given quickly. They can make charging stations on the road. I can present Bangladesh to the world as a leading country in dealing with climate change.
The ICT State Minister commented that technology has played the most important role in transforming Bangladesh from a less developed country to a middle income country.
Palak commented that the biggest success of a2i is to deliver services to people’s doorsteps.
a2i’s Device Innovation Expert Taufiqur Rahman gave a presentation on what the smart Bangladesh of the future will look like in the event. Also, iLab Head of Tech Farooq Ahmed Jewel handed over 13 Merit Certificates to the State Minister on behalf of iLab.
