The talented engineers of Bangladesh are leading the mission of moving the country forward at a fast pace through the implementation of Digital Bangladesh Plan 2021. However, its foundation was laid by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time. Bangabandhu’s dream was that the young generation of Bangladesh would be a science minded generation. And as the architect of Digital Bangladesh, Bangabandhu’s grandson engineer Sajeeb Wazed Joy is the pride of the engineering family of the country; under whose leadership we were able to launch Bangladesh’s own satellite into space for the first time.
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his feeling at the international conference titled “Fourth Industrial Revolution for Emerging Future” at Engineers Institution Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium, Dhaka on Friday (November 4).
He said that Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had dedicated the digital Bangladesh vision to 70 percent of Bangladesh’s youth. In just 13 years, the Prime Minister’s unpaid ICT advisor has created employment for two million young people in the technology industry. Under the supervision of Sajeeb Wazed Joy Bhai, we will build a knowledge-based, innovative, smart Bangladesh. Our young talented engineer brothers and sisters will take the lead in building a smart economy, smart society, smart government and smart citizens.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader inaugurated the two-day international conference organized by Awami League’s science and technology sub-committee.
While speaking as the chief guest at the ceremony, he said that the Awami League government has transformed Bangladesh into a ‘digital country’ and said that we will build a smart Bangladesh in the future. 50th Constitution Day approved by the Cabinet. The member secretary of science and technology subcommittee Engineer Abdus Sabur gave a welcome speech while Chairman of the subcommittee on science and technology Md. Hossain Munsur presided over the meet.
He said that the fourth industrial revolution has changed the daily life of people. Digital Bangladesh has become a role model in achieving sustainable economic and social growth by successfully utilizing this revolution.
In the conference, research papers were called on the technical aspects of the fourth industrial revolution. Abdus Sabur said, 662 papers and posters have been submitted in 20 categories. In addition to researchers from Bangladesh, more than 100 research papers reached from Europe, America, Canada, India, Japan, China, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brazil, South Korea, and Singapore.
Foreign institutions where researchers have submitted papers include various technological institutions in Silicon Valley, Imperial College London, Monas University in Australia, McMaster University and Calgary University in Canada, University of Texas Arlington in America, Boston University, University of Helsinki in Finland, Kyushu University in Japan, South Korea Seoul National University, China Academy of Science University etc.
Besides, researchers from research institutes such as BUET, CUET, KUET, RUET, DUET, IUT, IWM, CEGIS, River Research Institute, Power Development Board, Water Development Board etc. have submitted papers in the conference.
In the first main article presented on the first day of the conference, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that according to the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government has taken science education from all universities to secondary schools, including science and technology universities of the country. We are building the future generation to lead the fourth industrial revolution.
He said, studies have shown that 10 technologies of the fourth industrial revolution will play the most important role. Our universities need to pay more attention to these issues. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy also directed to focus on four issues.
After the opening ceremony, the first keynote of the conference was presented by the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the second keynote was presented by Bangabandhu Chair of AIT, Thailand.
