Tesla has started production of electric commercial semi-trucks. Pepsi will get the first delivery of this truck on December 1.
Elon Musk, the CEO of the American electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, said this in a tweet about the production and supply of semi-trucks.
In 2017, the world’s top billionaire unveiled a prototype of a battery-powered semi-truck. At that time, he said, production of the Class 8 truck will begin in 2019. However, due to shortage of parts, this deadline has been repeatedly pushed back.
The truck is capable of traveling 500 miles (805 km) on a single charge. However, Tesla did not say how many semi-trucks will be produced. The truck is expected to cost $180,000. In 2017, the soft drink giant booked 100 units of semi-trucks.
