Bangladesh has progressed 27 steps in digital quality of life index. According to the Digital Quality of Life (DQL) Index 2022, Bangladesh ranks 76th among 117 countries in the world. Progressing 27 places ranked 23rd in Asia. According to the index, this time Israel is at the top of the digital quality of life index. And Denmark, which was at the top last year, came second. In order of ranking, Germany, France, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Japan, United Kingdom and South Korea are in the top ten.
On September 12 of this year, the Netherlands-based cyber security company Surfshark has released the progress information on the digital index of the fourth annual index edition. Bangladesh has made incredible progress in this.
Surfshark evaluated countries based on five fundamental pillars. They are internet affordability, internet quality, electronic infrastructure, electronic security and e-government system. Among these, Bangladesh has improved significantly in the remaining 4 indicators except the e-Government pillar. As a result, there has been a rapid improvement from last year’s 103rd position.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan are ranked 89th, 94th and 96th respectively among South Asian countries this year. According to the index, neighboring country India ranks 59. Bangladesh is second only to India in index progress among South Asian countries. In that sense, the position of Bangladesh in the digital quality of life index is second among South Asian countries.
The previous year, Bangladesh’s position in the digital index was 103. Netherlands-based cybersecurity company Surfshark published the report last year on the digital well-being of 110 people.
According to the index, this year the index of Bangladesh has advanced to 29th in the pillar of internet capability which was 84th in the previous year. The Internet Mean Index moved up to 67, from 89 the previous year. In terms of e-infrastructure, Bangladesh moved up to 85th position from 89th place last year. Bangladesh ranks 75th in e-security which was 103rd last year. However, this time Bangladesh’s position in the e-government index remains unchanged. Which was 86th last year. This index is also stable this time.
