Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2022 (BDRO2022) is going to be organized for the fifth time in the country to make students interested in robotics and to test their skills in operating robots in view of the continuous success of the Bangladesh team in the International Robot Olympiad.
The national phase of the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad will be held on October 25-26 at Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center. This year the national level will be held in a total of 5 categories. These are Creative Category, Robot in Movie, Robot Gathering, Physical Computing and Robotics Quiz. Each competition will be held in two categories – Junior and Challenge. Those between the ages of 7-12 will compete in the Junior Group and those between the ages of 13-18 will compete in the Challenge Group. The students selected from among the winners of the national phase and subsequently through hands-on training and workshops will represent Bangladesh at the 24th International Robot Olympiad in Phuket, Thailand.
To that end, Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division Niaz Mohammad Zeaul Alam inaugurated the online registration process for the 5th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2022 on Sunday, September 25.
This year, the main theme of the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad is “Smart City”. Any Bangladeshi student born in 2004 or later can register for Bangladesh Robot Olympiad. The registration process for this year’s Olympiad will continue until October 12, 2022. Registration can be done at https://bdro.org/.
“Bangladesh Robot Olympiad has been a glorious event for the country,” Zeaul Alam said at the opening ceremony of the registration process. The Senior Secretary said that it is a great honor for the country to participate in the International Robot Olympiad for the first time and win the gold medal after which the participation of the students increased.
He also said that the demand for robots in people’s daily life is increasing. The use of the Internet of Things, hardware, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality has increased everywhere. Mastery of these topics in robotics will enable students to demonstrate mastery of many subjects as they enter their careers. All kinds of cooperation will be provided by the ICT Division in this work. In addition, through the robotic lab ‘Sheikh Russell School of Future’ established in the 300 parliamentary constituencies of the country; this year the 5th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad’s activation program and 10 hands-on robotics learning workshops will be organized in 8 divisional cities, said the Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department.
In addition to giving a welcome speech in the opening ceremony, Bangladesh Robot Olympiad President and Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University Dr. Lafifa Jamal presented the rules of online registration
In addition, the Director General of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Md. Mostafa Kamal; Associate Professor of the Institute of Information Technology of Dhaka University Dr. BM Mainul Hossain hopes that the students will use their talent to face the fourth industrial revolution through this event. At that time, Deputy Director (Administration) of the Information and Communication Technology Department, Md Feroz Sarkar, and many others were present. Dr. Senjuti Rahman, Chairperson of the Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University conducted the entire event.
The 5th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad is jointly organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering of Dhaka University, and Bangladesh Open Source Network- BDOSN. The Directorate of Information and Communication Technology will serve as the implementation partner of this program.
