Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said that Bangla (Bengali) is the mother tongue of the world’s third largest population. The spread of Bangla letters is even more widespread. Bangla script is used in several languages including Assamese. But once this Bangla language was neglected. Bangla language can now be written on all digital devices in the world. The government is working to achieve the technical capability of Bangla language. In the digital era, Bangla is not behind any other language. He mentioned Bangla language as the sweetest language in the world.
The minister commented so in his speech as the chief guest at a function organized to celebrate the birthday of poet Jibon Tapas Tanmoy at World Cultural Development Center in Dhaka on Sunday night. Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmad Tawfiq inaugurated the event.
Poet Asim Saha presided over this meeting while Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmed Taufiq, Chairman of BTRC Shyam Sundar Sikdar, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Soumitra Shekhar and poet Jibon Tapas Tanmoy spoke at the event.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said that poetry is the soul of language and literature and the poet is the worshiper of the beauty against the ugly. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman can be called the poet of politics. Bangabandhu’s best epic is Bangladesh. Poet Shamsur Rahman or Humayun Ahmed are well-known names in Bangla literature today, but there was a time when we had no alternative to read other than the stories written by Sharat Chandra Chattapadhay. This inventor of Bangla language on digital devices said that since the invention of Bangla language on computer in 1987, a revolutionary change has started in the world of Bengali publishing. When I see my handmade Bangla font written on the books in the stalls of Ekushey Book Fair, I feel proud, I feel myself very lucky. Mr. Mostafa Jabbar, the pioneer of digital technology development, said that no other language has such a scientific font like Bangla. Even in Devanagari or Hindi there is no opportunity to pronounce all languages correctly. Vidyasagar has enriched, the new generation of poets and writers will strengthen the position of Bangla language in the world, the minister expressed his optimism.
Rezwan Ahmad Tawfiq said, poets show us the way, they appear as light. Poet Shyam Sundar Sikdar called poets as symbols of humanism and ideals.
In the president’s speech, Asim Saha said, poets and writers alone are one institution. He expressed optimism that young poets will wander in the kingdom of poetry in the coming days. In 1983, when he was working in Nipun Patrika edited by Mr. Mostafa Jabbar, he had to produce three additional editions of Nipun Patrika based on one cover story. He cited the invention of Bengali language on digital devices as a historical event for advancing Bengali language. He expressed the expectation of awarding Mostafa Jabbar with Ekushe Rashtriya Padak for his special contribution to Bangla language and said that as long as Bangla language exists, the name of Mostafa Jabbar will not be faded.
