Dhaka, the capital city has come back with its as usual busy look since Sunday after the short holidays of Eid-ul-Adha. 74 lakh 15 thousand 966 mobile SIMs have returned to Dhaka in 6 days after Eid. According to statistics, so far the return rate of SIMs in Dhaka after the Eid holidays is 82.04 %. Till last week (July 14) this rate was 37%. That means, in the first two days of this week, more than 45% of active SIMs have returned to Dhaka.
It may be recalled that, a total of 65 lakh 78 thousand 866 SIM owners left Dhaka in two days till the night before Eid-ul-Adha. As it was a short holiday, this Eid journey did not stop even on the next day of Eid. On that day, 13 lakh 8 thousand 678 SIM owners left Dhaka. The next day, 11 lakh 51 thousand 234 SIM users left Dhaka, despite that was the office opening day. Altogether, the number of Dhaka leaving SIMs on Eid festival stood at 90 lakh 38 thousand 778.
The maximum number of Grameenphone SIMs left Dhaka during this time which was 45 lakh 35 thousand 206. Considering the rate of return to Dhaka, this operator is well ahead. Till July 16, 32 lakh 30 thousand 808 SIMs used by the customers of Grameenphone have returned to Dhaka. Banglalink, which is in the second position among SIMs returned to Dhaka, has 22 lakh 13 thousand 515 SIMs. Besides, among the returned SIMs in Dhaka, Robi’s SIM number is 18 lakh 45 thousand 278 and Teletalk’s SIMs are 1 lakh 26 thousand 464.
Post and Telecommunication Minister Mostafa Jabbar conveyed this data about active SIMs came back to Dhaka during July 11-16 in his verified Facebook post on Sunday (July 17).
