Over the years, mobile transactions have increased by 46 percent. In April this year, 93,032 crore taka were transacted in mobile banking services including deposit, withdrawal, transfer and payment of bills. In April last year (2021), the transaction was 63 thousand 441 crore.
According to the latest data from the central bank, the number of transactions in April this year as a single month is higher than at any time in the past. Earlier, as a single month, the highest transaction in March this year was 77 thousand 302 crore.
At present, a total of 13 companies including bKash, Nagad, Rocket, Mcash are providing financial services in mobile banking. At the end of April this year, the number of registered customers in this sector has increased to 11 crore 8 lakh 93 thousand 330, which was 9 crore 64 lakh 76 thousand 472 in the same period of 2021.
Of these registered 6 crore 41 lakh 76 thousand are men and 4 crore 63 lakh 63 thousand 248 are women. And the number of mobile banking agents is 11 lakh 77 thousand 152.
During the period under review, Tk. 27,740 crore has been remitted in mobile banking services and Tk. 25,633 crore has been cashed out.
Person-to-person transactions amounted to Tk. 26,269 crore, salaries and allowances of various institutions amounted to Tk. 5,031 crore, bills for various services were paid to Tk. 1,330 crore and purchases amounted to Tk 2,668 crore were transacted through mobile banking.
