For the purpose of teaching various programming and applications through mathematics, a laboratory has been inaugurated at the Mathematics Department of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) after the name of renowned applied mathematician of Bangladesh, Prof. Dr. Jamal Nazrul Islam.
The lab was inaugurated on Sunday on the fifth floor of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building. In addition, another lab called ‘Laboratory for High Performance Computing’ was inaugurated in the department for high capacity data simulation.
After the inauguration of the lab, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said that lab facilities are being increased and modernized in every department of Jessore University of Science and Technology. Such labs are very important in teaching students various aspects of modern mathematics. He said that various buildings and labs in JUST are being honored by naming them after eminent persons of Bangladesh. He also promised to provide more assistance in the development of mathematics department.
Dean of the Faculty of Science at the opening ceremony, Dr. Sumon Chandra Mohant, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics; Dr. Md. Hafiz Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Physics; Dr. Md. Alamgir Badsha, Assistant Professor of Mathematics; Zahurul Islam, Shamima Akhter, Md. Harun Rashid, Samiran Mal, Md. Nayan Dhali, Deepa Roy, Sharmin Banu, Lecturer Nazrul Islam, Mohammad Asif Arefin, Faisal Ahmed, Md. Raihan Chief, J. R. M. Borhan and others were present at that time.
