A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday in the meeting room of a2i located at ICT Tower in the capital to collect all the fees of Bangladesh Copyright Office through a2i’s digital payment gateway ‘ekPay’ in continuation of implementation of Digital Bangladesh. a2i’s project director (Joint Secretary) Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir and Registrar of Copyright (Joint Secretary) Md. Dawood Mia, NDC signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of their respective organizations.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, customers will be able to pay all types of fees / bills of Bangladesh Copyright Office, including copyright registration fee, copyright society registration fee, film release license fee, through the ekPay platform. In this case, through the entrepreneurs of digital centers across the country, customers can use any digital wallet and pay all kinds of fees of Bangladesh Copyright Office easily and without any hassle.
a2i project director (Joint Secretary) Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir said that in order to realize the dream of making Digital Bangladesh as a developed and smart Bangladesh in 2041, new innovations have to be made constantly. Otherwise one cannot survive in a competitive world. On the way to digital transformation of the conventional system, a2i’s digital payment gateway ‘ekPay’ is working to ensure inclusive participation in digital transactions. As a result of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between a2i and Bangladesh Copyright Office today, ‘ekPay’ will contribute to further the digital financial services activities of the country. a2i is working to make ekPay disability friendly, so that the backward people of the society can also contribute to strengthen the economic system of the country and get all kinds of financial services easily and in a short time.
Registrar of Copyright (Joint Secretary) Md. Dawood Mia said, “Through copyright law and copyright rules, we provide copyright in various literary works, plays, music works, record works, art works, film works, radio broadcasts, television broadcasts and computer software.” So far there has been no opportunity for e-invoicing to provide this service. On the other hand, since a2i’s digital payment gateway ‘ekPay’ is not integrated into our software, we have not been able to offer digital payments to creative people in the society. With the signing of today’s Memorandum of Understanding, we hope to be able to complete the work of software integration soon and to be able to collect the various fees of the copyright office through digital payment.
It may be noted that, a2i’s digital payment gateway ‘ekPay’ platform was created with the aim of simplifying and integrating various service fee payment systems as part of the introduction of electronic payment system at different levels of government to build a digital Bangladesh. The platform was inaugurated on October 20, 2019 by Mr. Sajeeb Wazed, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information and Communication Technology. Through the platform, customers can pay all kinds of government service fees including gas, water, electricity, education related fees, various service fees of city corporations and municipalities, service bills, land fees. Customers can avail any type of Mobile Financial Services (MFS), Digital Wallet, Card (Debit, Credit Card, Prepaid), Visa Card, MasterCard, Internet Banking; You can pay through bank branches and digital centers. In the meantime, all types of bills and fees are being paid to 50 government institutions, including 16 service providers of the country, through ekPay, which is affiliated with 30 financial service providers of the country.
