A joint operation by the Enforcement and Inspection Team of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has nabbed five illegal telecommunication equipment vendors from various markets in the capital till Wednesday. Those are: Rahim Electronics of National Stadium Market, Madhumati Incubator at Tejkuni Para, and Electric of Tejgaon and Famous Vision Limited of Multiplan Computer City Center at Elephant Road.
A total of 8 jammers, 30 boosters and 1 repeater were seized from the shop and 3 persons were arrested for selling these illegal telecommunication items. Two separate cases have been filed in this regard in the capital’s Paltan and Tejgaon police stations as per the provisions of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, 2001.
Later on Wednesday, a joint operation was carried out by BTRC and RAB-03 against the sellers of illegal jammers, boosters and repeaters through IT stall.com BD and e-com © Facebook website page in Mohammadpur area of the capital.
In that operation 4 jammers, 03 booster, 4 AC ADAPTER, 24 (twenty four) jammer antennas, 9 outdoor antennas of power cable booster, 24 (twenty four) indoor antennas of booster, 37 (thirty seven) booster cables, 1 laptop was seized. Two people have been arrested for selling illegal jammers, boosters, repeaters and related equipment.
A case has been filed against the accused for marketing / selling the illegal radio equipment in the capital’s Mohammadpur police station as per the provisions of Bangladesh Telecommunication Control Act, 2001.
In addition, on 20/04/2022, 25/04/2022 and 11/05/2022, BTRC inspectors visited the offices of Online Market Place Daraz, bdstall.com and ClickBD Limited as part of regular drives.
During the inspection, advertisements have been removed from the web portal / app of these organizations by blocking all these illegal jammers, boosters, repeaters and persons / organizations selling wireless equipment without the approval of BTRC. At the same time, any such advertisements on social media pages, links and groups are being removed.
Recently, the commission has revealed that jammers have been set up illegally in various religious institutions. As a result, the mobile network of residential buildings, schools, hospitals and other emergency service centers in the vicinity of the religious institution is being disrupted. Therefore, all concerned are requested to refrain from using the jammer in this way. It is to be noted that the Commission has been requested to refrain from buying / selling / installing / using jammers, boosters and repeaters through the verified Facebook page of the Commission, including the publication of notifications in the national dailies of the country and the dissemination of news on TV scrolls.
Such direct operations and online platform monitoring continue on the basis of regular monitoring by the Commission and active intelligence of various intelligence agencies. And the public is being asked to refrain from buying / selling and using all these illegal jammers, boosters, repeaters and BTRC unauthorized wireless equipment, otherwise strict action will be taken.
