Walton has set up a rooftop solar power plant to meet the power demand of the factory by producing environmentally friendly natural energy. In this regard, a 2.16 MW power plant has been set up at Walton Hi-Tech Industry at Bara Kalampur in Gazipur. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the solar power plant on Sunday.
Earlier, Golam Murshed, the Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries, showed the entire factory to two state ministers. At the same time, he said, Walton’s technology products ‘Made in Bangladesh’ are being exported to more than 40 countries around the globe; which includes TVs, refrigerators, mobiles and laptops. The 2.16 MW rooftop solar power plant, inaugurated today will be upgraded to 18 MW in phases.
By inaugurating the power plant, Nasrul Hamid Bipu said that united efforts should be made to increase the use of clean energy. Co-generation or tri-generation initiatives should be taken. To this end, the power department is motivating and cooperating with the industrial establishments. We welcome this initiative in its continuation.

The Ministers of State reviewed the various initiatives, research and innovation activities undertaken by Walton on Green Energy Management and the world class product manufacturing process. They also unveiled the second unit of Walton’s new model printer and motherboard production plant.
After the inspection, Nasrul Hamid said that Walton is very advanced in energy saving. That is why they have taken a big plan. Making good use of water. The Minister of State for Power said that star leveling will be done from next year to determine the energy saving capacity of the products produced and imported by Bangladesh.

Earlier, the state ministers arrived at the Walton headquarters and enjoyed a documentary on various steps taken by Walton to achieve sustainable development activities under the ‘Better Bangladesh Tomorrow’ initiative.
