50 years ago, ‘The Bangladesh Concert’ was held at Madison Square Garden in New York to support the country liberation war. On May 6, the high-tech Pak authorities of the ICT department of Bangladesh are going to hold a ‘Golden Jubilee Bangladesh Concert’ at the same place calling for the help ensuring cyber security of children from the least developed countries. World famous band ‘Scorpions’ and Bangladeshi ‘Chirkut’ are joining this concert. Concert tickets will be available online at Ticketmaster.com from April 4.
This information was presented at a press conference held at the ICT department on Saturday.
Bikorno Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director, Hi-tech Park Authorities presided over the meeting while UNDP Resident Representative Sardar Md. Asaduzzaman, Additional Managing Director of Citibank Sheikh Muhammad Maruf and Acting Secretary of ICT Department Khairul Amin spoke in the press conference.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology said, “We are a grateful nation. A victorious nation to the world. A potential warrior nation. These are the topics we will present in our victory messages through lyrics of the songs. Because, even if the words fail, the music succeeds.”
He further said that Bangladesh has now turned from a bottomless basket to a full basket. That which Ravi Shankar-Harrison and UNICEF left for us 50 years ago; By acknowledging their contribution, we want to show the world from Bangladesh that how we are facing the crisis and problems of this time.
As part of this, the state minister also hinted that work would be started with UNDP for the cyber protection of children in 200 countries of the world through the ‘Cyber Teens’ of Bangladesh’s Nobel laureate Sadat Rahman.
“In the last five years, the country’s investment in the ICT sector has reached $ 500 million. Now 2500 startups are working in the country. We are exporting software to 80 countries,” he added.
Pratik Chowdhury of Hi-Tech Park Authority gave a presentation on the event. After concluding the event, the High Park Authority entered into agreements with co-organizers UNDP, Walton, Citibank, United Group, bKash, Daraz, ADN Telecom, Abul Khayer Group and Cyberteens.
