In addition to air and missile strikes, Russian forces have entered the Eastern European country of Ukraine from three directions: south, east and north. Russia’s attack has crippled 10 percent of the country’s telecom infrastructure. However, it did not harm the central network.
The Qatar-based Al-Jazeera news agency reported on Thursday (March 24th) quoting the influential Turkish telecom operator Turkcell.
Among the three major operators in the country, which operate under the brand name ‘Lifecell’, a service provided by Turkcell, informed the Turkish stock exchange in a statement that they have about 9,000 stations there in Ukraine. All of these are still in operation. At the same time, there were no casualties among the workers. However, 10 percent of the country’s telecom infrastructure is crippled overall.
The company said it has provided the necessary equipment to the stations to keep the activities going. It has also set up backup data centers in Lviv, western Ukraine and some neighboring countries.
