The “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Academy Establishment (iDEA) Project” project under the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of the Department of Information and Communication Technology has started nationwide work to enhance the skills of startups by forming communities with them at the departmental level. This activity has already been started with the startups of Barisal.
The event, organized by the iDEA Project and in collaboration with Startup Barisal, is being held at the Higher Secondary Teachers’ Training Institute (HSTTI) in Barisal from Saturday to March 14, 2022. As a result of this incubation program, 80 young people from 40 selected startups of Barisal and its adjoining districts got the opportunity to participate for free in collaboration with Startup Barisal.
BCC’s Executive Director (Grade-1) Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan inaugurated the program and said that activities for the welfare of startups will continue through the iDEA project of Bangladesh Computer Council. He also hoped that the entrepreneurs of Barisal division would be inspired through this event. He thanked the Barisal district administration, startup Barisal and all for their cooperation in organizing such events.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) of Barisal Khandaker Anwar Hossain and Project Director and Joint Secretary of the iDEA Project Md. Altaf Hossain were present as special guests on the occasion. Barisal Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Jasim Uddin Haider presided over the function. iDEA project senior consultant R. H. M. Alaol Kabir delivered his welcome speech on the occasion. .
Md. Altaf Hossain, Project Director and Joint Secretary of iDEA Project, said that the contribution of government in ICT sector is undeniable. iDEA projects are already working with more than 400 startups in various ways. He encouraged startups to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the government.
In this incubation program there are special sessions with the entrepreneurs about the successful implementation of the startup, various legal issues of the entrepreneurs and various solutions related to the startup. In addition, various topics including startup financial strategy and analysis, business model, marketing and sales strategy will be the main topics of training in this startup incubation program.
After organizing in Mymensingh and Cumilla, the organizing authority thinks that the program will be completed successfully in Barisal region this time as well. From this training, the top startups will apply for a grant of Tk 10 lakh from the ‘iDEA’ project. In this case, the process of ‘iDEA’ project will be followed accordingly. Finally, startups that are finally considered eligible by the ‘selection committee’ of the ‘iDEA’ project will have the opportunity to receive a grant of Tk 10 lakh.
