Neither of the two panels was able to get monopoly in the 2022-23 term of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), one of the top organizations in the country’s software sector. None of the eight independent candidates won.
Although not in the full panel, the ‘One Team’ panel of Russell T. Ahmed, the former senior vice-president of BASIS has bagged 6. The remaining 4 of the 11 posts were won by the ‘Synergy Squad’ panel.
According to the results, Mushfiqur Rahman, head of Spectrum Software and Consulting of Synergy Squad, was elected by getting a maximum of 352 votes in the general category. The second highest number of votes was received by Rashad Kabir (322), a member of the same panel and managing director of Dream 71 Bangladesh.
Habibullah N Karim, the two-term former president of BASIS, who led the Synergy Squad, won the third highest number of 269 votes. With less than one vote, Team One leader, Team Creative CEO Russell T Ahmed, won.
Abu Daud Khan (263) of Team One and En-rout International , AKM Ahmedul Islam Babu (263) of Technogram, Samira Zuberi Himika (260) of Giga Tech and Mostafizur Rahman Sohel (251) of Synergy were elected as members respectively.
On the other hand, in the associate category, Tanvir Hossain Khan of Dreamer’s Lab from Team One got 67 votes and Fahim Ahmed from Pathao got 16 votes from Affiliate and got elected.
Earlier, Syed Mohammad Kamal, a MasterCard Country Manager from the international category, was elected un-opposed.
SM Kamal, chairman of BASIS Election Management Board, announced the winners’ names after counting the votes on Sunday. Board members Rafiqul Islam Rauli and Khandaker Atiq e Rabbani and Abdullah H. Kafi, a former chairman of the Association of Electoral Associations of the Asia-Oceania region and a member of the Election Appeals Board, were also present at that time.
