Chinese technology giant Alibaba has been accused of firing a female manager accused of sexual misconduct. The victim made the allegations in an interview with the Chinese newspaper Dahe Daily.
However, a letter from Alibaba stated that the woman had tarnished the company’s image by spreading false information.
The woman worker told Dahe Daily in Zhengzhou, China that she had been fired last August for spreading false information about a senior manager of the company, alleging rape. She did not receive any compensation till November 25.
The magazine published the news with screenshots of that memo on Alibaba.
The woman claimed that she had done nothing wrong. So, she is preparing to take legal action.
Meanwhile, the local police is investigating the incident and allegations of July 27. Earlier, an 11-page document about the incident went viral on Chinese social media. The woman alleged that her company’s manager took her on a tour of Jinan province to talk to a client about 560 miles from Alibaba’s headquarters. He also drank wine with other colleagues during dinner at the behest of his manager. She could not remember what happened next. Later she saw some unusual things in the CCTV footage. The woman then came to the head office and told the Human Resource Department to take action against the manager.
