Dhaka University, the beacon of the country, is celebrating its centenary. The university, one of the best in the subcontinent, has gifted countless graduates to build the country on a strong foundation by overcoming many ups and downs in this long journey.’Nagad’, the mobile financial service of postal department is very happy and proud to be a part of this celebration.
As part of Dhaka University’s centenary celebrations, ‘Nagad’ has gifted around 45,000 wristbands for each student of the university at a function at the university’s Senate building at 11 am on Sunday. Tanvir A Mishuk, the managing director of ‘Nagad’, handed over the wristbands to Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. Proctor Professor AKM Golam Rabbani was present at the occasion.
At the University of Dhaka, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, “On the occasion of the centenary of Dhaka University, we told ‘Nagad’ to decorate the campus maintaining the academic character of the university. That too is commendable and they have sincerely tried so. ‘Nagad’ showed how to decorate the campus with an academic flavor in an innovative way. Each campus seems to have reached a new level. Thanks to ‘Nagad’ for that. I hope “Nagad’ will be involved in various such events of Dhaka University in future also.
His Excellency the President and the Chancellor of the University, Md. Abdul Hamid formally inaugurated the 4 day long centenary titled ‘Shatobarsher Aloy Dhaka Biswabidyalay’ (Dhaka University illuminated in the light of centenary).
To commemorate the centenary of Dhaka University, a 100-year-old commemorative photo-wall and other decorations have been set up at the university’s administrative building, TSC, student dormitory halls and various buildings. Curzon Hall, Kalabhavan (Arts Faculty) and Malchattar of the campus are decorated in a colorful manner. Besides, various roads of the university have been illuminated. The ‘Nagad’ of the postal department is proudly bearing all the responsibilities of this decoration work of the university.
Dhaka University, which started its journey in 1921, completed 100 years on July 1 this year. But because of Corona pandemic, the centenary celebrations were disrupted. As a result of the improved Corona situation, this centenary event was recently organized. Following this, various arrangements are being made by the university from 1st to 16th December.
On the occasion of the centenary of the university and Digital Bangladesh Day, a concert has been organized by ‘Nagad’ on 12 December at the central playground of the university. Apart from ‘Nagar Baul’ James, Warphase, Sahajia, Meghdal, Krishnapaksha, Introet, Tirandaj and Mehreen will perform in the concert.
Meanwhile, fireworks and laser shows are being organized at the central playground of the university on the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence and centenary of Dhaka University on December 16. It will highlight the participation and role of Dhaka University in the struggle for Bangabandhu, Liberation War, Independence of Bangladesh and various movements. The country’s best mobile financial service ‘Nagad’ is directly involved in the event.
