As well as using the good aspects of technology, there are risks involved. We never want to surrender to that risk, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.
The IGP was speaking at the inauguration and discussion on Community Policing Day-2021 at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Saturday (October 30).
He said technology is updated every day. For this, RAB-police have to stay ahead with technology updates.
The IGP said the next challenge facing the police is the social media in the cyber world. Older crimes are declining but cybercrime is on the rise. The cyber world is creating a threat to the country, to the people. We have to be prepared to deal with cyber-crime. I will seek the intervention of the Home Minister in tackling cyber-crime. We have to protect our country from the risks that the cyber world has.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam presided over the discussion which was graced by the presence of was the famous scientist and writer Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present as the chief guest. Senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
