The NASA Space Apps Challenge 2021 has been launched under the auspices of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and with the support of Bangladesh University Grants Commission and BASIS Students Forum. NASA Space Apps Challenge 2021 is being organized by NASA, the national space agency of the United States.
This year the NASA Space Apps Challenge is being held at least ten times larger than the first year. This time, NASA Space Apps Challenge has added 5 million students through social media as well as 100,000 students to compete online. More than eight hundred projects from Bangladesh submitted to the NASA Space Apps Challenge competition. After scrapping the incomplete projects, 125 projects have been selected after verification and selection which have been participating in the 48 hours hackathon at a stretch started from October 1st. More than fifty mentors are giving virtual instruction to the participants.
The main goal of this competition is to find innovative solutions to various global problems by ensuring the participation of everyone including technologists, academics, scientists, designers, painters, entrepreneurs. This year, the Space Apps Challenge Hackathon is being held simultaneously in 251 cities around the world. BASIS is hosting the competition virtually in 9 cities of Bangladesh (Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barisal, Khulna, Comilla and Mymensingh).
The prize announcement of the local competition of BASIS ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge-2021’ will be held online on October 5, 2021 at 4 pm. The award ceremony will be held later.
