Even if the National Identity Card (NID) is lost or the NID number is not saved, from now on the identity of the person can be identified by fingerprint from the District Election Office. You will not need to visit the Election Commission (EC) head office in Dhaka to identify yourself.
Recently, measures have been taken to identify fingerprints in each district, said Muhammad Ashraf Hossain, System Manager, NID.
He said that if a person loses his NID, needs correction or is included in the EC’s server as a dead person while still alive, he will get all the services in the district due to that arrangement.
He also said that the Upazila Election Officer has been given the power to change the status of the ‘deceased’ in the voter list of the living person.
In this regard, the Director General of the NID Division AKM Humayun Kabir said, people used to suffer a lot. We have made arrangements for the identification of the person in the district. So as soon as someone’s fingerprints match, he will be identified, as he is alive. So, you don’t have to come to Dhaka for this. The problem will be solved at the field level.
