More than two and a half hundred Afghan interpreters are interested to live in the UK. Many of them are now in hiding in the changed scenario.
A copy of this e-mail has been mistakenly sent to another address. Interpreters are fearful of leaking information about the whereabouts and identities of interpreters sent by the UK Ministry of Defense.
The e-mail was sent by a team responsible for the UK’s Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy.
According to the BBC, the names and profile pictures of the interpreters were attached to the e-mail. The UK Ministry of Defense has apologized for the incident in a statement.
At the same time, the British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has started an investigation into the information breach.
Meanwhile, several interpreters complained that such mistakes could endanger the lives of interpreters. Especially those who are in Afghanistan, they are at a greater risk.
