Sohail Rana, an inspector (investigation) of Banani police station, has been arrested from India for allegedly embezzling Tk 76 lakh from customers of E-Orange, a local e-commerce enterprise.
The BSF detained a Bangladeshi named Sohail Rana from the Changrabandha border in Kochbihar district on Friday on charges of entering India illegally, an Indian media reported on Saturday (September 4th). He was later interrogated.
BGB Director (Operations) Lt. Colonel Faizur Rahman said, “I have heard that a Bangladeshi named Sohail Rana has been detained at the Indo-Nepal border.” But we have not received any such information from BSF so far.
On the other hand, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Banani Police Station Noor Azam Mia told the media that Sohail Rana remained in office till Thursday night. After that he did not come to the police station. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Earlier on Tuesday, a case was filed against 10 people including Sohail Rana. The other accused in the case are the owner of the company Sonia Mehzabin, her husband Masukur Rahman, the company’s chief operating officer (COO) Aman Ullah, Nazneen Nahar Bithi, Kawsar, Kamrul Hasan, Abdul Quader, Nurjahan Islam Sonia and Rubel Khan. The court then directed the Gulshan police station to accept the application as FAR.
