As a part of celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and Golden jubilee of independence, a webinar titled ‘Applications of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) held which was jointly organized by Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET)’ and the Alumni Association of the Department of Mathematics of Chittagong University.
The event was inaugurated on the virtual platform by CUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam On August 29 (Sunday). The special guest was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the Director of Student Welfare, Prof. Md. Rezaul Karim. The ceremony was presided over by the head of the Department of Mathematics Ujjwal Kumar Dev. Khulna University Professor of Mathematics Md. Mahmud Alam, Professor of Mathematics at Jahangirnagar University Mahtab U Ahmed and Mohammad Ali, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, CUET were the panel speakers in the webinar
The webinar was conducted by the Assistant Professor of Mathematics Mr. Md. Farhad Uddin. Rezaul Karim Swapan, General Secretary of CU Alumni Association of the department of Mathematics gave a vote of thanks on the occasion.
As the chief guest, Prof. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “At present, the whole world is on the threshold of the 4th Industrial Revolution and everyone is ready to face that challenge. The importance of science as well as engineering education for advancement in technology is immense. The contribution of mathematics in almost every field of engineering education is undeniable. Therefore, at present the Government of Bangladesh is giving special importance to mathematics, science, engineering and technology through BDSTEM. Fluid Dynamics is a very important branch of mathematics.
With the help of computer technology and numerical analysis, Fluid Dynamics is now playing an important role in a new simulation called Computational Fluid Dynamics or CFD which is pening new horizons of possibilities. Nowadays, engineers can use CFD related simulation software to analyze the functionality of a concept by transforming it into a model. This CFD can be put to use in many of the ideas we have put into practice by setting up Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator at CUET.”
The panel speaker in the webinar is ‘Steady fluid flow through a rotating curved with magnetic field along the center line’. Md. Mahmud Alam, Professor of Mathematics at Jahangirnagar University under the title ‘Gas Exchange Mechanism in Respiratory Channel of Human Lung’. Mr. Mahtab U Ahmed and Mr. Mohammad Ali, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, CUET, presented a separate paper entitled ‘Analysis of Boundary Layer Flow Over a Bullet Shaped Object with a Quasi-Linearization Iterative Scheme Line’.
