On Tuesday, a day after protesting in the streets, the victims filed a case against the e-commerce company E-Orange Shop for fraudulently embezzling Tk 1,100 crore. All the owners including 5 officers of e-Orange have been accused in the case. Case No. 14.
The accused mentioned in the case as embezzlers are Masukur Rahman, Amanullah, Bithi Akhter, Kauser Ahmed, Sonia Mehzabin and a few others. Each of the accused mentioned in the case statement has been claimed to be the owner of e-Orange.
Gulshan Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan confirmed the matter to the media in the afternoon.
He said, a victim named Md. Taherul Islam has filed the case against e-Orange. In the case, he has accused all the owners including 5 officers of e-Orange. He also mentioned in the case statement that Tk 1,100 crore was fraudulently embezzled.
In the statement of case, Taherul Islam said that he paid in advance to e-Orange on April 21 to buy a product. However, E-Orange did not deliver the product on the scheduled date. Did not return the money even. They have repeatedly given notices on their Facebook pages, asking for time. But did not give goods and money. The last time they talked about the delivery of goods from the office located at 5/A building, 138/136 Road, Gulshan-1, but they did not deliver. Also, the outlets are not offering products against the vouchers as they have kept the money of the gift vouchers sold by them. We are not receiving our hard-earned money during this time of pandemic, but we are getting new information about the change of ownership of the organization. In addition, to date, they have fraudulently embezzled around Taka 1,100 crore from one lakh victims without delivering any goods to the victims.
Earlier, after the road blockade at Gulshan-1 in the capital on Monday afternoon, e-Orange customers gathered in front of the house of former Bangladesh national team captain and MP Mashrafe bin Mortuza. Later that night, the former e-Orange brand ambassador said he would sue the victims for legal action.
