The website of the Iranian Ministry of Transport was under a cyberattack, a day after the attack on the state railway company. The hackers targeted the computer systems of employees of the country’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
As a result, the portal and sub-portal sites of the ministry have gone offline. However, the country’s state television called the whole incident a ‘cyber disruption’.
Iran did not clear yet that who was responsible for the cyber-attack and whether any ransom was demanded or not.
Iran’s telecom minister, Mohammad Javed Azari-Zahromi, warned on Saturday that computer systems could face potential ransomware attacks if they are not fixed.
Cyber-attacks have had a negative impact on Iran’s rail service. Hackers have spread fake delay notices on station boards. But the government-run railway company says only the screen has been affected and the train has been running normally.
