Microblogging Twitter lost its unrestricted freedom in India. As a result, users will have to take responsibility for the content from now on. An Indian court has ruled that the company does not comply with India’s new IT policy.
Earlier, Narendra Modi’s administration was the first to accuse Twitter of non-cooperation. Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed the social media platform in multiple speeches.
Narendra Modi’s government has filed a complaint against Twitter for not following the recent policy of appointing ‘compliance officers’. India’s IT ministry has filed a complaint in the New Delhi High Court alleging that Twitter’s non-cooperation violated several sections of the IT Act. Following the claim, Twitter lost legal protection to users’ content in India. The matter was disclosed in a court document on July 5.
However, Twitter declined to comment. Earlier, the organization said that they are continuing their efforts for cooperation.
