The Startup Bangladesh, a department of information and communication technology, is training entrepreneurs to make a living for a lifelong period, not for a day, said Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the State Minister for ICT.
The Government is investing 100 crore taka in 50 startups every year to encourage IT startups. Through this, entrepreneurs are working to make the necessary investments, acquiring knowledge of modern technology, arranging training and incubation and building the capacity to connect with others through creativity.
The state minister said the government has already provided National Information Service No. 333 to 3 crore services with the help of entrepreneurs using the power of technology. Similarly, 4 million people have been provided medical services from the Telemedicine Center. In this case, 22 startups have cooperated with the government. Products and emergency medicine have been delivered door-to-door from a2i’s One Shop, One Pay. E-commerce has grown by almost 300 percent across the country.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak also said that it is possible to export Made in Bangladesh products by meeting the local demand, adding that these measures have been taken to build a self-reliant digital Bangladesh, not a self-centered one. Masterclasses have been started from the ICT department to give trade licenses to 90 percent medium, small and micro-entrepreneurs in the country and to register companies. This master class will be further expanded in the future with the help of the Ministry of Industries. There will be more cooperation to export their products abroad.
The state minister said this while addressing a discussion meeting organized on the online platform on the occasion of International SME Day 2021 on Sunday.
Industries Minister, Nurul Majid Humayun was the chief guest at the program which was presided over by Muhammad Masudur Rahman, Chairman, SME Foundation. State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Secretary, Ministry of Industries Zakia Sultana, FBCCI President Md. Jasim Uddin, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Akhter Hossain and UNIDO’s Regional Representative for Asia Van Rankel Renee were present as special guests at the function.
