Between May 18 and May 25, about half of the medical equipment seized from around the world was unauthorized Covid testing kits, Interpol Secretary-General Jurgen Stock said.
He said in a statement on Tuesday that Italian authorities had recovered more than half a million counterfeit surgical masks and 35 instruments used in their production and packaging. There were various types of counterfeit medicines hidden in the consignment of clothes, ornaments, toys and food items. The total value of the recovered medical products is estimated at 2.3 billion dollars.
