Azure blockchain service will be closed on September 10 this year. Until then, existing deployment support will continue, but the software giant has already stopped adding new deployment or member creation issues. News ZD Net.
In 2015, Microsoft announced Azure Blockchain as a blockchain service. In January of the following year, a public preview was unveiled at Azure’s DevTest Lab, so that blockchain-related services and partners can differentiate blockchain technology from virtual machines.
The main purpose of Azure’s blockchain service was to create a certified blockchain marketplace. Rather than initially creating a limited number of for-profit partners, the software giant’s goal was to engage all types of blockchain partners. In other words, the importance of numbers has prevailed over quality.
Initially, the response was quite good, but later on, Microsoft did not develop the service. Even then, the service was able to attract GE, JP Morgan, Singapore Airlines, Starbucks and Xbox as customers.
Microsoft has not yet commented on why the service is being shut down.
