In the last 11 working days, a total of 20,039 detainees have been granted bail in lower courts across the country following the hearing of a virtual application due to the case of coronavirus.
Barrister Mohammad Saifur Rahman, a spokesman for the Supreme Court and a special officer of the High Court Division, told the media on Wednesday (April 26th) morning.
He said that since April 12, in order to prevent corona infection, in the second phase, bail and urgent criminal applications are being heard in a virtual manner without a physical presence in the lower courts and tribunals across the country. In the last 11 working days, 20,039 prisoners have been granted bail in the lower court.
He added that 2,826 bail applications were disposed of in lower courts across the country in a virtual hearing on Tuesday (April 26) and 1,395 detainees were granted bail.
