Microsoft and VMware are working to restore interbanking connectivity in Bangladesh Bank. So, the people concerned are hopeful that inter-bank check transaction activities including money transactions will start through electronic fund transfer (EFT) shortly.
However, the responsible officials of Bangladesh Bank did not agree to comment on the matter.
According to sources, the server went down on April 13 due to a disconnection of the fiber optic cable connecting the two data centers of the central bank. As a result, ordinary people and traders have been suffering from online transactions since then. The ‘Microsoft and VMware’ technology team is making every effort to alleviate the suffering.
However, it was not immediately clear how long it would take to remove the error. Despite the scenario, they have expressed hope that it will be fixed at any moment.
Contrarily, when contacted with the Microsoft technical team, the responsible person expressed his inability to provide any information in this regard. Similarly, when the concerned authorities of VMware Bangladesh were called, no response was received in this connection.
According to the concerned people, an average of Tk 13,000 crore is transacted daily through the two services that are closed.
